We take the privacy of our clients and site visitors very seriously. Please familiarise yourself with our statement below.

What is this Privacy Policy for?

This web site is owned by the Counselling & Family Centre (CFC). CFC specialise in providing counselling and related services. This privacy policy is for this website thecfc.org.uk and governs the privacy of its users. The policy explains how the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies to the way CFC handles personal data.

What information is collected?

This web site is primarily for providing information about CFC’s counselling service. This is given freely and does not require you to provide any personal data.

Should you choose to engage with some features of the site then you may provide data about yourself. We rely on your consent to process this data. Where you provide such consent, you have accepted that you understand and accept this as a valid legal basis for processing your personal data.

Website features where you may provide data include:

  • Subscribing to our email newsletter

  • Submitting an enquiry form

  • Making a donation to CFC

  • Booking a training course

  • Using social media / personal profile features

 

Data collected may comprise:

  • Name and job title

  • Contact information including email address

  • Demographic information such as postcode and interests

  • Other information relevant to surveys or offers

  • Credit card / payment details (e.g. for donations / course booking fees /counselling sessions)

 

 

What is done with the information?

Your privacy is important to us and we take it very seriously. Information you provide is used to understand your needs and to provide you with relevant information and a better service. We may also use this information to help answer any questions you ask. Your details are not passed on to any third parties other than those suppliers and service providers needed to provide our service (see below). Your data is not transferred to suppliers outside of the UK without submitting satisfactory proof of their safeguarding methods and proof of a certified privacy shield.

Security

The protection of individual personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, destruction or erasure is taken very seriously. Suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures are in place to safeguard and secure the information collected online. CFC also requires its suppliers and service providers to protect personal information through its contractual arrangements.

Your contact with this website and/or CFC is done at your own discretion. Your personal information is kept private and stored securely until a time it is no longer required or has no use, in accordance with the GDPR. Every effort has been made to ensure a safe and secure enquiry form submission process but you are advised use of such processes is at your own risk. Please do not submit confidential information via the web site.

Email Newsletter

CFC periodically email newsletters, used to provide updates from CFC to people on our mailing list. As part of our GDPR compliance programme, everyone on this list has given explicit consent to be on the list. 

New people can add themselves to our mailing list via an automated online process but do so at their own discretion via an opt-in approach. Some additions may be manually processed through prior agreement (e.g. you ask us to add you to the list). You can unsubscribe at any time through an automated system. This process is detailed in the footer of each email newsletter.

Emails may contain tracking facilities within the actual email. Activity is tracked and stored in a database for future analysis. Such tracked activity may include; the opening of emails, forwarding of emails, the clicking of links within the email content etc.

Cookies

Cookies are small files saved to your computer that store information about your usage of a website. This allows websites to provide a more personalised experience and can allow organisations to better understand and improve how people interact with their sites. CFC use cookies for Google Analytics (see below).

We also link to social media platforms: YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Linked In. Please use social media responsibly and consider the potential impact of any information you share, both on yourself and anyone else.

We use a secure client management system for counselling records. Details available on request.
