Altrincham Flourish Hub
Visit to the new uplifting local community space
On 14 November, Nicky Lever, our wonderful volunteer receptionist, represented the CFC at the official launch celebration of the Altrincham Flourish Hub at platform 4 of Altrincham interchange (train, tram and bus station).
This is a new space which has been created to empower and uplift the local community. As part of the hub’s social enterprise mission, it will serve as a gathering place for connection, collaboration and growth through programmes, workshops and events.
There were some interesting delegates at the event.
These included Joe (pictured first below) from the 0161 Community Gym in Swinton which supports adults, children and families through sport. Many of his clients need support with their mental health and he took a lot of CFC brochures to put out at the gym.
The Flower Therapy workshop also gave a presentation on the power of floristry in helping mental health problems. Working with flowers and making a beautiful piece is very uplifting.
BreathChamps is led by a multiple-award winning Queen's Nurse Heather Henry (pictured in the third image below). Heather has a serious lung condition but carries out education programmes for those suffering with lung and breathing difficulties and to raise awareness of these chronic conditions. This resonated with Nicky in particular as her husband suffered with sarcoidosis, asthma and bronchiecstasis before he died. Heather’s programme is below.
Fantastic job Nicky! It's a wonderful thing to have such enthusiasm and commitment and we thank you for all your hard work and efforts supporting CFC!
