Trainer
Victoria Abadi. Post Grad Dip in Counselling (1997). FDAP Certified (Federation of Alcohol and Drug Practitioners). Registered MBACP. Victoria has worked as a specialist addiction counsellor for 20 years and coordinates the Family & Addiction Service at the Counselling & Family Centre alongside working in private practice with a wide range of addictions and addictive disorders.

Who is the course for?
This course will suit anyone who already has a basic understanding and experience of the counselling process and is interested in how addictions affect the family both individually and as a system. This will help to improve the understanding, knowledge and experience of those wishing to work with addiction within the family. This 1 day workshop is designed to be part of the full 7 Day Families and Addiction Programme offered over the year. It is also suitable as a ‘stand-alone’ day, with a focus of helping practitioners to engage with family members both individually and as part of the family system who are affected by addiction.

Aim of course
Following completion of this day you will:

  • Understand the types of eating disorders that can be treated under the addiction umbrella
  • Be aware of the addiction model for working with eating disorders
  • Be able to identify a client’s addictive relationship with food
  • Feel more skilled and confident when working with or counselling a person with addictive relationships with food
  • Have identified referral routes and support in the local community.

Continuing Professional Development hours   7 hours

Cost:   £130
Non-invoice bookings: 25% of the total cost is payable on booking to secure a place.
